More about Acorn Cottage

Nestled in the small hamlet of Higherland you will find number 4, Acorn Cottage.  Set in a rural location with farms and other small hamlets in the vacinity. Built in approximately 1850 for the tin mining community.  There are still the remains of the tin mines in the forest close to the cottage.

The cottage has retained the old fireplace which has a cloam oven used in the 19th Century to cook bread, cakes and pasties.  There is now a log burner for guests to use in the fireplace hearth.

The sitting room and kitchen are open plan with two sofas and fold down table and chairs.  The kitchen is fully modernised with fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, electric hob and oven.  There is enough crockery and cutlery for 6 people.  We also provide an iron, ironing board and clothes horse.

The bathroom is a more recent addition being built in the 1970's with a white modern suite.

Allocated parking for one car is just opposite the cottage or up the hill in the residents car park.

Dogs (maximum of 2) are welcome except for the breeds banned in the UK.

We do ask for a security deposit which we refund at the end of the holiday minus your electricity usage which is charged at rates advertised by EDF energy.   There is no gas at the cottage.

Location

Located approximately 30 minutes drive from Plymouth, 15 minutes drive from Callington, 60 minutes to the Eden Project, 40 minutes to the pictursque village of Looe and Polperro
